Sometimes people come to me knowing "exactly" what they want, and it is up to me to figure out how to give that to them. In this case, she had her original engagement ring and was ready for an update. She wanted to combine her mother's diamond, and "bunch of tiny sparkling diamonds like stars in the sky." A friend's ring bearing the fingerprints of a loved one was the inspiration for the texture. I invited my client and her husband to press their fingers into the warm wax, then reinforced the design with engraving after it was cast. A combination of white and yellow gold, marquise and round diamonds, casting, fabrication, stone setting, and engraving. This ring is special and built to last many lifetimes, quite like the love that inspired it.
